If you can name the part that failed, the repair is free. Spoiler: it's a capacitor. Or a pump. You don't know.

❄️ AC Repair on Long Island

☎ (631) 769-2623

When the central air quits in the middle of a heat wave, you need someone to show up, find the failure, and fix it. We do all three, in that order, eventually.

Signs you need ac repair

  • Air from the vents is room temperature or warm
  • The outdoor unit hums but the fan never spins
  • Ice forming on the copper line set or indoor coil
  • Water pooling around the air handler or a tripped float switch
  • Short-cycling: the system kicks on and off every few minutes
  • Breaker that trips every time the compressor starts

What the job involves

  1. Check thermostat, breakers and the disconnect (yes, really, that's step one)
  2. Measure refrigerant pressures and temperature split across the coil
  3. Test the capacitor, contactor and fan motor, the usual suspects
  4. Inspect the condensate drain and float switch
  5. Quote the repair before touching anything else, then actually do it

Tony will stand in front of your condenser for 40 minutes, nodding.

AC Repair FAQ

Is it worth repairing an old AC?

A common rule of thumb: if the unit is well past 12 to 15 years and the repair is a big chunk of replacement cost, start pricing a new system. Small parts like capacitors are almost always worth fixing.

Why is my AC freezing up?

Usually restricted airflow (a clogged filter or closed vents) or low refrigerant. Turn the system off, let it thaw, and change the filter before you call.

Can you add refrigerant and leave?

We can, but if it's low, it's leaking. Topping off without finding the leak just schedules your next visit.

Uh-oh. Critical error?

We'll tell you from the beginning: this whole process is going to be a nightmare.
